Forty-five-year-old Wenefredo Tolentino Amoguez was the minesite’s mechanic in charge of the Caterpillar equipment. Born in Nabunturan, Davao DelNorte in the Philippines, he took a course in automotive mechanics before marrying Emilie at age 26 and settling in Davao City, Philippines. Wenefredo specialised in heavy equipment, his skills as an automotive mechanic having paved the way for him to work in Saudi Arabia for the Kumatso Company before returning to the Philippines to work at Loyalty Mining as their chief mechanic. Wenefredo was on his first 6-month contract when Yetwene was hit. He leaves six children – Ace, Winard, Jerico, Aimee, Marc and Joanna.
